Post-op day 3

Just a few details of the past two days…

     Thursday...

After we were discharged on Wednesday evening we headed over across the street to our hotel. Dominic fell asleep soon after we got there and slept all night except for waking up when we needed to give him pain meds. It was amazing what a good nights sleep did for him and us! He woke up so happy and full of energy. He spent quite a few time playing on the bed and figuring out how to crawl and manuever around again. It felt like God gave us a little touch of love when we looked out our hotel window and a vibrant double rainbow filled the sky! He’s given us so many confirmations along the way and that’s special. We made a quick trip to Aldi in the forenoon and than anxiously waited until 3:30 when Tony and Judith were due to arrive with our girls, Zoey & Hazel. And what a happy reunion it was! Dominic giggled and was overjoyed to see his sisters.  By 4:00 we headed over to our Airbnb which is just a few minutes down the road from the hospital. We plan to stay here until we go home. Tonys treated us to a meal of paneer and all the fixings. So yummy!

Friday

Dominic woke up a few times during the night and seemed to have a harder time sleeping. He tossed and turned a lot at night and seems to have difficulty getting himself in a comfortable position. Today was the day we needed to start turning the screw on his fixator. Something was too loose on his fixator so while Justin and Tony and the girls went to Port Discovery Childrens Museum, Judith and I took Dominic to the hospital so they could tighten things up and also pick up some meds at the pharmacy. While we were at the hospital Dominic pulled himself up and stood on his fixator without any help for the first time. When people say these kids are resilient, its not a lie!

We’ve been trying to get Dominic weaned off of the oxycodone and today he only had one dose of that during the day which was great! He’s a lot more active and happy when he’s not doped up with the oxycodone. Otherwise we alternate with Tylenol and Ibuprofen and that seemed to work just fine today. I’m told its normal for them to be off the oxycodone completely by Monday so that’s our goal.

Justin and Tony have really been loving their new wheels here in the city. Riding scooters seems to be the thing to do and they are always so willing to run for food or whatever we may or may not need! 😊

That's it for now. Have a good night and thank you for your continued prayers.

Jess

That's a written mark there by Dominic's knee, not an actual cut. On Sunday we will be washing his leg for the first time and taking all gauze and sponges off. Stay tuned for more photos later!
