HOME
It's delightful to be able to write this in the comfort of our own home. We had wonderful accommodations while we were in Baltimore but there is nothing like home. I asked my girls today which house they like better (out of the three they've been at in the last week) and there was no hesitation to say, 'our house'!! Once today Hazel blurted out ''I'm excited!'' so I asked her what the excitement was all about and here she was excited to be at home. I think maybe she heard her mom making similar exclamations yesterday. :) I know it was just a week but somehow it felt like we were gone a very long time.
We had Dominics appointment at the clinic yesterday at 9:30 but we didn't leave there until 12:30. Lots of waiting but that's all part of it. We were able to talk with his Dr again which was great. He is so helpful in giving advice on what he would recommend we do for Dominics other leg. We do have an appointment at Shriners at the end of the month so we will begin the process of working with them. We will be working with a completely different doctor, so it feels a bit like we are starting over. Anyway, back to yesterday... they put a rubber something on his bottom ring so that when he stands on it, it will have some grip and not just slip on the floor. Before we left, we made an appointment in two weeks since that's when we should be done turning and his bone should be straight. They will need to do x-rays and confirm that everything is as it should be than we will just need to let the bones grow together.
We went back to our Airbnb where my parents were taking care of the girls and finished getting our things together. We lost no time in heading out! Travels went well and Dominic didn't seem to mind the trip.
Today felt like a catch-up day. Putting all the odds and ends away from our trip, catching up on laundry and getting into a routine with Dominic here at home. He's been doing well during the day and every day is better than the day before.
His evenings and nights are still a bit of a struggle for him (and us) in getting him to settle down. He has quite a bit more pain and muscle spasms evenings and during the night which we are told is because of him moving around during the day. By evening his leg is sore and it's hard for him to sleep well. When we can stop turning the screw on his fixator, the muscle spams should be much less even though the pins in his leg go thru his muscle. He wakes up a few times during the night but he's often awake for about an hour somewhere between 2am-5am. It's not like he's in really bad pain but something is just bothering him enough that he can't relax enough to sleep. We do have pain meds and meds for his muscle spasms, but the hard part is knowing what exactly is bothering him and trying to stay on top of his pain instead of treating it when it hurts a lot.
So I'd just like to give that as a prayer request. Please help us pray for a restful night for Dominic
Again, Thank you for your continued prayer and support! This ↓ was on our kitchen counter when we got home yesterday and I will just share it with you all. Maybe someone out there is struggling with strength for the day. Give it to Jesus, He WILL provide.
Have a good evening! Jess
