Arrival and Pre-op

Baltimore always welcomes us with someone tooting their horn before we even get to the hospital.😏 We were turning left at a stoplight with two lanes of traffic turning the same direction. Apparently we were too slow for the impatient lady behind us and we heard that first BEEEEEP! of an impatient city driver. As she rapidly went around us in the other lane, we saw that her car had a bumper sticker that read.. "Be Patient".😧

We arrived at the hospital around 1:00. Dominic had his first covid test ever but he didnt seem to mind too much. After the covid test we met with one of the nurses for the pre-op. Mostly it consisted of info regarding surgery day tomorrow. Ill try to explain just a bit. The bow in his leg will be fixed by making a cut in his tibia and attaching an external fixator on his leg that will be turned over a period of time to straighten his leg. Ill be sure to attach pics of that after surgery. There will also be a cut somewhere near his ankle and a bone graft inserted to help turn his ankle in toward a more proper angle. Surgery will take about 3 hrs with an extra hr until we will be able to see him again. We need to be at the hospital at 6:30 and surgery will begin at 8. Luckily we are staying at a hotel style house on the hospital campus and will be able to walk to the hospital in the morning. Dominic cannot eat anything after midnight tonight and can only have water and juice until 6 am. Pray about that as he is usually hungry when he wakes up. As dominic was playing with toys in the toy-room this eve it felt he was doing some things that he wont be able to do at least for a while. But we remember that in this case pain is gain and he will be better off in a few months. Please pray that surgery will go well! thanks, Justin

The playroom was great with lots of boy toys!!

Also wanted to show a good angle of his leg/foot that will be operated on tomorrow. That little toe or digit as they call them will likely be removed as well during surgery.

This is the hotel we are staying at and the hospital is right across the street to the right. We will sleep here tonight and than stay in the hospital for probably 2 nights. But we will at least have a room here to come and relax, shower, etc..
